How CBD is Extracted

Cannabinoids are extracted from the cannabis plant and are known to have a wide range of therapeutic effects. CBD is one of over one hundred cannabinoids that naturally occur in cannabis, and has properties that may offer valuable health benefits. 

Extracting CBD is not as simple as some may think. CBD oil is typically composed of a few quality ingredients, each one being tested and certified by a medical organization. Isolating CBD requires attention to detail and a high degree of scientific process. The only way to effectively make CBD oil is through multiple stages of extraction, chromatography, recrystallization, and filtering– before it is ultimately safe for human consumption. 

At Abundant Labs, we extract CBD through a series of operations, using our cutting edge technology in our State of the Art Facility. With a super-cryo ethanol extraction process such as ours, the initial step is adding ethanol to a large centrifuge with hemp biomass at very low temperatures. The hemp/ethanol mixture is spun and agitated, allowing the ethanol to dissolve and separate the desired cannabinoids from hemp material. After this preliminary step, the operation continues by purifying and isolating the desired products, removing any unwanted impurities.
